  • IT Industry

This is what happened in the 2000s

In the PC industry, reorganization such as withdrawals and acquisitions of manufacturers progresses due to further price reductions of computers. In addition, the widespread adoption of notebook computers accelerated mobile computing. On the other hand, mobile phones were equipped with cameras and Internet connection functions, and Web services for mobile phones also prospered. This trend continued until the arrival of smartphones in the late 2000s.
Further, the number of ASP businesses that provide application services via the Web increased. Various services were provided, and in 2006, Salesforce.com announced "Apex," so it came to be called "SaaS (Software as a Service)."
At the same time, around 2006, Google proposed the concept of cloud computing. Cloud-related technologies also spread rapidly.

  • Computers

This is what happened in the 2000s

In anticipation of the spread and expansion of mobile communications, domestic telecommunications carriers, particularly cell phone carriers, underwent a series of restructuring. Around this time, there was also fierce competition among companies to acquire broadband subscriptions. As a result, the spread of broadband lines progressed significantly. This created an environment where constant connectivity was the norm.
On the other hand, with the spread of Internet access services via cell phones, Internet use gradually shifted from computers to mobile devices. This trend accelerated in the 2010s with the introduction of the iPhone in 2008 and Android devices in 2009.

With some exceptions, the trend toward openness continued in 2006, when Java technology (language and development environment) was released as open source software.
In addition, Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript + XML) started being introduced among cloud-related technologies. This technology uses asynchronous communication via XMLHttpRequest, a standard feature of JavaScript, to communicate with servers and dynamically rewrite parts of webpages, and is now a standard technology used in web applications.
